Eugene Luczak ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home on Mar. 17, 2026.Eugene Edwin Luczak; May 1, 1933 – March 10, 2026Eugene Edwin Luczak, 92, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026.Born May 1, 1933 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of John and Anna Luczak. He was affectionately known as "Gene" or "Geno". As a youth, he enjoyed sports and was a boy scout. He graduated from Canisius High School in 1951, attended Canisius College, and served in the US Army from 1953-1957 during the Korean Conflict. After the army, he began working for National Gypsum in 1957.On September 28, 1957, his greatest joy was marrying Arlene Feldt and raising 3 children in Buffalo, NY and Charlotte, NC. Their 68 years together doesn't capture their friendship and devotion to one another. Family gatherings were filled with lots of love and laughter.He was a very loyal and grateful employee of National Gypsum (Gold Bond Building Products) where he worked as Senior Systems Analyst, programming main frame computers. Gene and Arlene moved to Charlotte in 1978 when National Gypsum relocated its headquarters from Buffalo. After he retired in 1993, he joined the National Gypsum Trailblazers Retirement Group, which brought everyone together for group trips and luncheons.Gene was a parishioner at St. Ann Catholic Church, where he served in the Men's Club, assisted with Christmas tree sales, and in the Parish Council. He was a 4th Degree member with the Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of the American Legion.He leaves behind his loving wife, Arlene, daughters Paulette (Keith Allen) and Pamela (Darrin Peine), son Paul (Valerie), grandchildren Patrick Needham (Laura), Christopher Needham (Melissa), Benjamin Needham, Jake Allen (Jenifer), Rachel Allen King (predeceased), Courtney Luczak, Allison Luczak, Matthew Peine, Nathan Peine, 6 great grandchildren – Kennedy King (predeceased), Brooklyn King, Lilly Allen, Tyler Needham, Ella Needham and Murphy Needham.He loved watching the Buffalo Bills and the Carolina Panthers. He cherished time with his family and friends, and enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, and fishing.Gene will be remembered for his smile, honesty, caring nature, and being helpful. He had a gentle spirit. His legacy of kindness and devotion will live on in all who knew him.A funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church on Friday, March 20th at 11:30am. Rosary will be held at 11:00am. Interment will be a private ceremony at Forest Lawn East Cemetery.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
