Troska, age 87, of Clear Lake, SD, passed away Friday, March 6, 2026 at the Estelline Care Center in Estelline, SD. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2026 at the Clear Lake Methodist Church in Clear Lake, SD. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Clear Lake. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11th at the Clear Lake Methodist Church and will resume Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church. Houseman Funeral Home in Clear Lake is entrusted with the arrangements.Ethel Mae Troska was born May 23, 1938 to Elmer and Hazel (Uckert) Robish on a farm in Oxford Township, Hamlin County near Kellerton, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at the EUB Church. She moved with her family to a farm near Thomas, SD in 1944 and graduated from Thomas High School in 1956.Ethel was united in marriage to Jim Troska's on June 30, 1961 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clear Lake. They had two sons: Douglas and Bruce. Ethel worked at Koenecke Super Valu, the Clear Lake Bakery and Deuel County Good Samaritan Society. She also did the bookkeeping for Jim's trucking business.Ethel was a member of the Clear Lake Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school. She also served as the treasurer for the Lakes and Streams. Ethel enjoyed bowling, playing cards, Bingo and doing puzzles.She is lovingly remembered by her son, Doug (Betty) Troska; grandchildren: Derek (Makaygan) Troska, Aaron, Carson (Haylee) Troska, Nathan Troska, Bryce (Autumn) Troska, Tanner (Autumn) Troska, Corey Troska, Colby Troska and Chloe Troska; great grandchildren: Hannah, Denjer, Waylen, Maddix, Kinsley, Kinsley Nova, Adrian, Branson, Baylor and Landon; daughter-in-law, Delrita Troska; sisters-in-law, Donna Gieser and Teresa (John) Homan; brothers-in-law, Richard (Char) Troska and Lynn Hawkins; and many nieces and nephews.Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Jim; son Bruce; parents Elmer and Hazel; brothers: Harold and Orvis and sisters: Mavis, Doris, Carol and Lois.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
