Esther Bean

Esther Bean

Boynton Beach, FL

Esther Deanna Bean passed away on March 11 in Boynton Beach, Florida. Born and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts, she shared 65 years of marriage with her husband, Stephen Bean. After teaching middle-school French and Spanish for twenty years, Esther pursued advanced studies in social work and psychotherapy at Smith College. She moved her family to Northampton, where she established a successful counseling practice and became an active, energetic member of Congregation B’nai Israel, contributing to many aspects of synagogue life.

A wonderful cook, Esther took special pleasure in welcoming family and friends into her home for meals and celebrations. She loved solving puzzles, was a competitive bridge player, and had a special affection for every dog she met. Her deep commitment to community was evident in her election to seven consecutive terms on the HOA board at Ponte Vecchio West, reflecting the steadfast and dedicated way she engaged wherever she lived.

Esther is survived by her husband, Stephen Bean; her children, Sharon Bean and Michael Bean; her cherished grandchildren, Maddi, Julia, Grace, and Akivha; and her foster daughter, Daisy Pabon. She is also lovingly remembered by her adored nieces, Susan Goldstein and Rachal Goldstein. She was predeceased by her parents, Anne Coulter and Maxwell Coulter; her sister, Maureen Goldstein; and her brother-in-law, Edward A. Goldstein.

Her memory will remain a source of strength, inspiration, and love to all who knew her. May her memory be a blessing.
