Estel W. Cronin, 81, passed away on March 7, 2026.He was born in Perry County on July 12, 1944, a son of Burdette A. and Mary M. (Bland) Cronin. A lifelong resident of Tell City, Estel retired from General Electric where he worked for over thirty years.Estel was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of American Legion Post #213 who will conduct military rites.He will be remembered for his love of music, mowing grass, storytelling and offering to lend a helping hand to anyone. Estel loved nice cars, especially Mustangs and always kept his vehicles immaculate. Not many will forget seeing him ride his lawn mower to get coffee at Circle S. He was also the guy (that you hoped that you weren't behind) when he drove his side by side to Troy to eat at The Barge Inn.Estel is survived by his sons, Keith Cronin and James Cronin; grandchildren including Tish Mayfield (Jeremy), Dana Jomo (Francis), Nick Cronin; great grandchildren, Isaac, Lazarus, Selah and Jubilee Jomo and Karson, Chase and Ella Mayfield; siblings, Dave Cronin (Hester), Bob Cronin (Geraldine), Larry Cronin, Susie McCallister, Brenda Fella (Roger), Sheila Whitehead and Steve Cronin.Preceding him in death were his parents, Burdette and Mary Cronin and brothers, Don Cronin and Ricky Cronin.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Lilly Dale Cemetery that will include military rites. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Thursday.Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post #213.
