Errol Thompson ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home - Osceola on Mar. 9, 2026.Errol Thompson was welcomed into Heaven Thursday evening, March 5th at home peacefully.Errol was born to Malcom and Gladys Thompson (Nagy) on October 8th ,1943. He served his country as an airman in the US Air Force, stationed at Lackland Airforce Base in Texas. He met Sally Thompson, then Ottman, and married the love of his life in Clintwood, VA in October of 1973.Errol spent his free time at the racetrack for over 50 years of love. Throughout that time, he won many championships mainly at New Paris, South Bend, Plymouth, and Mottville. The love for local small-track racing formed many special relationships. Errol loved 'wheeling & dealing', he could pin a bargain with anyone. He never knew a stranger and was always willing to help anyone needing racecar parts.Errol is survived by his loving wife, Sally Thompson, his 5 children: Rebecca (Oliver) Morris, Roy (Mary) Thompson, Kimberly McQueary, Jason (Jennifer) Thompson, and Joshua Thompson. A long listing of 14 loved grandchildren and many more great-grandchildren. He is welcomed home by his parents; Malcom and Gladys, his son; Roger Thompson, his ex-wife; Vickie Smith, and his brother; Edward Thompson.The family welcomes you to celebrate his life with us. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 11th from 4-8 PM with a service to be held on Thursday, March 12th at 11 AM. Both proceedings will take place at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, IN.
