He was born on June 27, 1944, in Uvalde, Texas, to Sostenes Gutierrez Sr. and Valentina Alamillo.Ernesto spent many years living in Colorado before returning to his beloved hometown of Uvalde. He worked as an HVAC technician for many years and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family.He had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in the mountains. Ernesto was a devoted Catholic and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.He is survived by his children: Rachel Silva and husband Jose; Ernesto Gutierrez Jr.; Daniel Gutierrez and companion Ken; Jose Luis Gutierrez and wife Rebecca; Rafael Gutierrez and wife Monica; Tina Gutierrez and husband Genovevo; Robert Gutierrez; Patricia Castillo; and Julian Gutierrez.He is also survived by his sisters, Yolanda Ortiz and Pura Rios; his brothers, Mario Gutierrez and Armando Gutierrez; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.Ernesto was preceded in death by his parents, Sostenes Gutierrez Sr. and Valentina Alamillo; his beloved wife, Maria Helena Gutierrez; and his brothers, Sostenes Gutierrez and Jesus Gutierrez.A Visitation will be held Sunday, March 8, 2026 from 12:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, Chapel of Serenity, a Rosary will take place at 7:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial is set for 10:00 A.M, Monday, March 9, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church., 408 Fort Clark Rd.Cremation is under the direction of Hillcrest Memorial Funeral HomePallbearers will be; Matthew Joseph Gutierrez, Rudy Ortiz, Josue Ortiz, Frank Mirelez Jr., Arnold Gutierrez, Chris GutierrezErnesto will be remembered for his love of family, his hardworking spirit, and the joy he found in nature and the mountains.
