Springfield, MO
Ernestine McCoy was born July 21, 1940. She passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the age of 85 in Springfield, MO.Ernestine lived much of her life in California. She worked at Edwards Air Force Base and American Aircraft as a key punch operator. She also lived in Utah and Oregon and the past few years in Missouri, which she loved.Ernestine loved people and could often be found helping in her community. She ran a day care, a home for women in need, and was a foster parent for at risk youth. Ernestine did CNA work; taking care of family, friends and strangers...that became friends. She was there for so many in their last days and they knew they were loved by her. Always thinking of others, Ernestine even invented an item to help those she took care of. She somehow even found the time to co-manage a yogurt shop/sandwich shop in Oregon. She was sharp minded and good with numbers. A real entrepreneur. She enjoyed many things in life like fishing, quilting, cross stitching, cooking, snow skiing, bowling, reading and cowboy movies. She loved to listen to and sing contemporary Christian music. She prayed and read her Bible often. She loved Jesus with all of her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Pearl Traylor; and her brothers, Davis and Donald Louis Traylor.
Ernestine is survived by her daughter, Faith Hobbs; her granddaughters, Nicole Gilbert, Erika Isham, Haley Hobbs and Brigitte Hobbs; and her great grandchildren, Tyler McCarroll, Ryanne McCarroll, Logan Gilbert, and Keiland Traylor-King; and her brother, Victor Traylor.
She loved hard and if you ever had the pleasure of meeting her, you were friends for life. We will miss you until we meet again.
