Ernest William Boram, Jr.

1952 — 2026

Carrollton, KY

Ernest William Boram, Jr., affectionately known as Ernie, passed away suddenly on March 10, 2026, following a stroke. Born on December 22, 1952, in Indianapolis (South Bend), Indiana, he lived a life centered on his family, his community, and his work. At his bedside were his wife, his sons, and two of his granddaughters.

Ernie devoted much of his career to electrical work. After many years with Arts Electric, he established his own business, proudly involving his sons in electrical installations for multiple corporations. A knee injury eventually led to his retirement, yet his dedication to the trade and commitment to excellence left a lasting impression.

A longtime member of Relevant Apostolic Church in Carrollton, Ernie was known as the “Candyman” to the children of the congregation. He gave generously of his time, helping with the church’s annual soup dinners and the sale of homemade Easter eggs. His cheerful nature and genuine care for others made him a beloved presence among people of all ages.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn Griffith Boram; his sons, Ernest Gaylen Boram of Carrollton, Kentucky, and William Shirley (Lisa Phillips) Boram of Carrollton, Kentucky; his sister, Debbie (Onnie) Thrasher of Tennessee; his brothers, Bill (Cecile) Boram of Florida and Jerry (Monica) Buchanan of Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Emily Grace Boram of Peoria, Arizona, and Remington and Brenleigh Boram of Madison, Indiana, along with many other cherished family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest William Boram, Sr., his mother, Helen Thurman, and his brother, Tom Buchanan.
