Ernest Wayne Kojo
June 29, 1950— March 9, 2026
Stoughton, WI
Ernest Wayne Kojo, age 75, of Stoughton, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Stoughton Hospital.
Born on June 29, 1950, in Longview, Washington, Ernie was the son of Edward Kojo and Lois Ann St. Peter. He was later raised by his father and stepmother, Jeanne Kojo. A 1969 graduate of Stoughton High School, he remained a lifelong and devoted member of the community he loved. On April 15, 1972, he married Bonnie K. Evenson, and the two shared nearly 54 years of marriage.
Ernie was known for his strong work ethic and warm, social spirit. He dedicated 25 years to Uniroyal before becoming the proud owner of Ernie’s Rock Dam Saloon, a local gathering place he operated for 21 years. He remained active in the community, holding offices in the Jaycees and the Rock Dam Pool League, and was a lifelong member of Good Shepherd by the Lake Lutheran Church.
An avid outdoorsman who cherished time with friends and family, Ernie found joy in cribbage, hunting, golf, bowling, road trips, and the weekly tradition of Friday night saunas. Above all, he treasured his family and the many memories they created together.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Kojo; children, Rob Kojo, Dina (Scott) Geitt, and Kate (Jason) Koehler; grandchildren, Andrea, Sam, Preston, and Annabelle; and siblings, David (Jeanne) Kojo, Michael (Ronda) Kojo, Tim (Glenda) Kojo, Clifford Butcher, and Dolly Jo Chidester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Jeanne Kojo, and Lois Ann Butcher.
