Ernest Olivas Chavez, born on April 25, 1925, in Santa Rosa, NM, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at the age of 100. Ernest was a beloved husband, father, grandfather of five, great-grandfather of seven and a great-great grandfather of nine, and a friend to many.

We were blessed to have him around through five generations. He is survived by his daughters, Loretta MacCosbe and Olivia Silva, granddaughter Monica and husband Patrick, Granson Adam and wife Kellie, grandson Matthew and fiancé Courtney, grandsons Colin and Bryan MacCosbe, who will cherish his memory and the lessons imparted through out his life.

Ernest had a passion for leather work and found joy in constructing an addition to his home. Alongside his late wife Rosie, he worked and operated a snack shop, creating countless memories and friendships within the community. His spirited life exemplified hard work, creativity, and commitment to family, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew him.

In honor of Ernest's life, a visitation will be held at the FRENCH-UNIVERSITY Chapel at 1111 University Blvd NE, on March 23, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m.

Mass will take place at Our Lady of Fatima on March 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow.
