Ernest L. "Bud" "Ernie" Hood

Ernest L. “Ernie” “Bud” Hood was born on October 3, 1937, in St. Paul, Nebraska, to General Lee and Neoma C. (Sherman) Hood. He graduated from Wolbach High School in 1955 and married W. Roberta “Bobbi” Farr on November 17, 1956, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Together they raised three sons, Darcy, Robbie, and Darin. Ernie served in the Army Reserves from 1956 to 1962 and enjoyed a long career with Western Electric/AT&T, retiring in 1994 after 37 and a half years.

A lifelong member of Creekside Church, Ernie was known for his quiet strength and steady presence in the lives of his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbi, in 2024; their son, Robbie, in 1976; his parents; three brothers; and five sisters.

Ernie is survived by his sons, Darcy (Julia) Hood of Minden, Iowa, and Darin Hood of Auburntown, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; his sister, Jeanne Mathis of Gordon, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews who will remember him with great affection.
