Ernest "Connie" Conway Stanfield, Jr.

Ernest “Connie” Conway Stanfield, Jr., age 74, of Lexington, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Born on April 22, 1951, in Ewing, Fleming County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Dorothy Thomas Stanfield and the late Ernest Conway Stanfield, Sr. Connie spent 25 years of dedicated service at Keeneland before retiring.

He is survived by his wife of many years, Patricia “Patty” Lynn Keltner Stanfield, and their five children: Daniel (Melinda) Stanfield, Ernest (Bridget) Stanfield, Nancy Stanfield (Jeff) Hanley, Melvin (Tori) Stanfield, and Joshua Keltner. He also leaves behind 20 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, as well as two sisters, Louise Stanfield and Linda Goodkins, and a brother, Billy Stanfield.

Connie was preceded in death by his first wife, Annabelle Smoot Stanfield, and by his siblings Judy Olson, Sarah Stanfield, Ollie Vance, and Donnie Stanfield. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose quiet strength and steady presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.
