Erna Elisabeth Weidner

Erna Elisabeth Weidner

December 11, 1938 March 9, 2026

Lyons, PA

Erna Elisabeth Weidner passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Melvin Weidner, who predeceased her on March 27, 2016.

Born on December 11, 1938, in Greussenheim, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Bernhard and Emma (Hessenauer) Herrmann and was raised in the Roman Catholic faith. Erna met Melvin while he was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army. They married in France in 1957 and soon moved to the United States, making their home in Lyons, Pennsylvania, where they shared their entire married life.

Erna dedicated 42 years to the garment industry and was a member of the Reading Liederkranz. She loved her family more than anything, but she also enjoyed camping with her husband, reading, and dining out with friends. A true sports enthusiast, she followed the Phillies and Eagles, but never lost her German passion for soccer. Erna cherished her travels to visit family in Germany and California. In February of 2021, she moved to Frederick Living where she quickly built new friendships and immersed herself in the community activities.

She is survived by her loving son, Stieven Weidner and his wife, Faye; two grandchildren, Lindsey, wife of Ryan Waltermyer, and Kristopher Weidner and his wife, Taren; four great-grandchildren, Hannah and Noah Waltermyer, and Ethan and Austin Weidner; a brother, Artur Herrmann of Zellingen, Germany; and a sister, Erika Johnson of Marina, California.
