Erma Ann Muniz

Erma Ann Muniz

December 5, 1953 March 14, 2026

Mineral Wells, TX

Erma Ann Muniz of Mineral Wells, Texas, passed away on March 14, 2026, at the age of 72 after a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family and friends at the time of her passing.

Born in Lubbock, Texas, on December 5, 1953, to Emmit and Anita Muniz, Erma moved with her family to Mineral Wells shortly after birth. From a young age she showed a gift for friendship, gathering lifelong companions on the school playground. During summers she could be found selling Sno-Cones from her small stand or helping her mother at the family laundromat on South Oak, lessons in hard work that shaped her throughout her life.

Erma spent much of her career with American Airlines in the Admirals Club, where she met people from around the world, including many notable figures, some of whom remained friends for decades. Her work ignited a deep love of travel, with favorite destinations in Key West, Florida, the Caribbean, and especially Boston. Though she lived in Boston for many years and cherished the friends, colleagues, and customers she met there, her heart remained firmly rooted in Mineral Wells.

After retiring in 2010, Erma returned home to care for her father. She later worked at H&R Block and H.E.B., where she delighted in her interactions with customers. In her free time she enjoyed gathering with friends, bowling with her team, and playing Mah Jong with anyone willing to join her.

She is survived by her daughter Penny Perez-James and son-in-law Josh James of Las Vegas, her son Donny Perez and daughter-in-law Rebecca Wallace-Perez of Mineral Wells, her beloved grandson Gage Waugh-Perez of Mineral Wells, and the father of her children, Gilbert Perez of Arlington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmit and Anita Muniz, and her younger brother, Dierro Muniz.
