June 11, 1946— March 4, 2026
Lake Orion, MI
Eric Rex Richardson, age 79, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, in Lake Orion, Michigan. Born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, he was the son of Rex and Anna Richardson.
A proud veteran of the United States Army who served during the Vietnam War, Eric developed a lifelong passion for history and vintage machinery. He became an avid collector of military vehicles and participated in reenactments, preserving the stories and equipment of his fellow servicemen. His mechanical interests also led him to restore several MG cars alongside his father, and for many years they were active members of the local MG car club, where he cherished the camaraderie and the sight of classic British automobiles. Eric held a particular fondness for British motorcycles of every era and was a familiar presence at events such as the “Battle of the Brits,” where he spent decades buying, selling, and trading vintage bikes.
He found constant companionship in his beloved cats and continued to inquire about their well-being until the very end.
Eric was preceded in death by his sister, Letty Martin, and his brother, Enoch (Nick) Richardson. He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Douglas (Holly) Martin, Scott (Chelle) Martin, Brian (Jillian) Richardson, and Courtney (Jens) Vollmer. In his memory, the family requests donations to the Michigan Military Technical and Historical Society in Eastpointe, Michigan.
