Eric Allen Johnson

Eric Allen Johnson, 54, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Oldorf Hospice House.

Born on November 3, 1971, to Mary Colleen (Maddigan) and Allen Johnson, Eric grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Washington High School. He continued his education at Kirkwood Community College, where he studied construction. Eric possessed a remarkable mechanical and electrical aptitude and took great pride in his ability to fix almost anything. A lifelong collector with wide-ranging interests, he also found special joy in the calm companionship of horses.

He is survived by his parents, Mary Colleen and Allen Johnson; his half-brother, Carl Johnson; aunts and uncles Richard (Deana) Johnson, Carol (John) Ramussen, Jack (Barb) Davidson, Maureen Maddigan, Kevin Maddigan, Kathleen Maddigan, and Mary (Pat Bresnahan) Maddigan; and many cousins. Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, Raymond and Elaine Johnson and Robert and Delores Maddigan; aunts and uncles Brian Johnson, Pat Maddigan, Mike Maddigan, Timothy Maddigan, Tom Maddigan, Terry Maddigan, Kelly Maddigan, and Eileen Ladimer; and his cousin, Brian Davidson.
