Eric Turnbull ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Uht Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Mar. 13, 2026.Eric Allen Turnbull, born Jan 13, 1963, the son of Geraldine Turnbull and the Late John Kenneth Turnbull, passed March 7, 2026 in his home, surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer.Survived by his wife of 41 years, Terri Turnbull, children Jacob (Jennifer), Jonathan, Erica, Alissa (Vincent), and Jack, his grandchildren Benjamin, Emily, and Maxine, and siblings Craig (Lisa), Christopher (Patricia), Lynn (Ron). He was preceded in death by his sister Deborah.Eric Turnbull was a formidable man with a strong personality. He had his first job at 11 years old, delivering papers through the streets of Wayne, and worked with the same intensity for over 50 years. In his free time, Eric enjoyed working on cars and was taught to weld as a young adult. This made him a natural fit for Ford Motor company, where he has worked for the past 25 years.Eric's impact was felt through entire communities; from the baseball teams he coached and cub scouts he led to the city he helped shape through his time on the Garden City Planning Commission. His determined attitude and perseverance helped shape many young athletes and scouts, providing them with the skills they needed to succeed. An avid sportsman, Eric spent much of his free time fishing, preferably in the Florida Keys, and enjoyed hunting with his sons and brothers. He enjoyed hosting family meals: fish fries and pork ribs were crowd favorites. Eric was baptized in the Sunset Church of Christ where he was a beloved member. He was a man of strong faith, and kept his faith through this battle. He loved and was loved ferociously, with his whole being, every step of the way. Eric was surrounded by this love until the very end.A viewing is scheduled from 1 to 8 pm on Thursday March 19th with a funeral March 20th at Uht Funeral Home, starting at 2:30 pm, with a gathering to follow. Jason Masteller will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Eric's life. The family would like to thank all of the Doctors, Nurses, and dedicated staff who helped care for Eric over the years. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
