Thomson, GA

Dea. Ephraim White “E.V.” Morgan, age 86, of Thomson, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Piedmont-Augusta Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.

Born on May 5, 1939, to Richard L. Morgan and Ella White Morgan, E.V. was a man of quiet strength who valued education and hard work. He attended McDuffie County Training School and later earned his GED. He worked for many years at National Homes Company, First National Bank, SunTrust Bank, and the McDuffie County Road Department, while also devoting time to working on the Leverett family farm. Above all, he lived a life of steady service and dedication.

A lifelong member of Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, E.V. served faithfully as a deacon, past chairman of the trustee board, member of the sanctuary and male choirs, and former deacon-in-charge of the senior citizens’ ministry. His commitment to community also found expression through the NAACP, the Masonic Lodge, and Relay for Life.

E.V. was a gentle giant known for his kindness, his belief that silence spoke for itself, and his refusal to raise his voice. He led with a warm smile and a mischievous laugh, loved people deeply, and was an excellent cook who somehow never gained a pound. He is remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life exemplified the words of 2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”

He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings: Myrtis, Matilda, Pinkie Lee, Roxie, James, J.C., Johnny Frank, and Prince Albert. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Velma Landers Morgan; daughters Jackie Morgan and Lorrain Morgan-Rooks (Robert Rooks); son Randy Morgan, Sr. (Lois); bonus son Patrick Lunceford (Ashley); granddaughters Yolanda “Vette” Turman and Kenyada Turman-Padgett (Covelle Padgett); grandson Randy Morgan, Jr.; bonus grandchildren William C. Lunceford and Georgia G. Lunceford; great-grandchildren Marquavious Butler, whom he raised as a son, Miloni Thomas, Kentavious Hatcher, and Cayden Padgett; sister Mary Frances Lafavor; sisters-in-law Brenda (Victor) Bender, Hazel Battle, and Doris Hamilton; brother-in-law James Scott; special friend J.T. Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
