Emmons F. Harney Jr

Emmons F. Harney Jr., 90, of Nowata, passed away on March 9, 2026. Born on July 12, 1935, in Nowata to Emmons and Zola (Clifford) Harney, he graduated from Nowata High School before entering the U.S. Army in 1956. He served with the 101st Airborne Division until his honorable discharge in 1959.

Following his military service, Emmons worked as an electrician and lineman for McClennan Drilling, REC, and the Verdigris Valley Electric COOP for more than 35 years until his retirement. He was known for his steady work ethic and quiet dedication to his family and community.

He is survived by his sons, Brian Harney and Michael Harney; his grandson, Duncan Harney; and two great-grandchildren, Valerie and Rowan, along with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, W.J. Harney, Bud Harney, Pat Harrison, Jeri Barnes, Tom Harney, Hank Harney, Doug Harney, and Judy Harney.
