Emmett “Butch” Booth Duty II, age 71 of Oglesby, passed away on March 8, 2026. Born on September 2, 1954, in Houston, Texas, Butch was raised in the Texas Baptist Children’s Home in Round Rock. After graduating from high school, he attended Howard Payne University. Later in life he rededicated himself to his faith, attended The George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University, and received his certificate of ministry on November 29, 2010. Called into gospel ministry, he was licensed to preach that same year and pastored First Baptist Church of Osage for several years.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents, E.B. and Holly Duty. He is survived by his wife, Velynda Sue Duty of Oglesby; daughter Dora Bostater of New Mexico; sons Emmett Booth Duty III of Missouri and Geromy Daniel Duty and wife Barbara of Minnesota; step-daughter Sheri Renee Medina of Oglesby; brother Benny Broussard; sisters Rhonda Livingston, Debra Ann Barrett, and Ida Diane Hulan; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews who loved him.
