Emma Jean Wright was born on October 18, 1941, in Blackshear, Georgia, to the late James and Mary Wright. She graduated from Wayne County Training School in Jesup and later attended T.C. Williams Vocational College. Jean dedicated thirty years of her career to the Brunswick Police Department, serving with commitment and integrity. A longtime member of Mose Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Screven under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Zachary, she remained deeply connected to her faith and community throughout her life.

Jean transitioned from this life on Friday, March 13, 2026, at her home. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Brinton Wright, Sr., and Clinton Wright; her parents, James Wright, Sr., and Mary Wright; four brothers, Eddie Wright, Sr., James Wright, Jr., Joseph Wright, and Donald Wright; and one sister, Elizabeth Tisdale.

She leaves to cherish her memory her five sisters, Elnora Edmondson of Jesup, Georgia, Lillie Lane of Durham, North Carolina, Bobbie Wright of Brunswick, Georgia, Jacqueline Wright of Screven, Georgia, and Chyrell George of Easthampton, Massachusetts; three brothers, Charles Wright of Waycross, Georgia, Lawrence Wright of New Castle, Delaware, and Kelton Wright of Snellville, Georgia; twelve grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by five sisters-in-law, Lula Wright of Feeding Hills, Massachusetts, Ora Lee Wright of Waycross, Georgia, Mary Linda Wright of New Castle, Delaware, Linda Wright of Brunswick, Georgia, and Dorothy Wright of San Diego, California; one brother-in-law, Robert George of Easthampton, Massachusetts; one aunt, Marjoria Manning of Jacksonville, Florida; one uncle, Thomas Jenkins of San Antonio, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
