Emma Jean Denmond was born on April 10, 1951, in DeRidder, Louisiana and passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, in Ruston, LA. She was the last of four children born to Leo Demond Sr. and Lillian Johnson Demond.

Jean accepted Christ at a very early age and attended Grove Baptist Church in Rosepine, LA. She attended school in the Beauregard Parish School system where she graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1969. After high school she matriculated into college where she earned a degree in education. She began her professional career as a teacher in the Orleans Parish School System shortly after graduation. She shaped and molded her students for thirty years as a teacher.

Jean was noted for her patience, determined spirit and her smile. These life qualities served her well as she fulfilled her mission in life to teach children and raise her son, Marcus. She had a great love for music and traveling. Her greatest joy of all was spending time with her grandchildren.

Jean is survived by her son, Marcus Denmond and Tonti of Haslet, TX; sisters, Sarah Perry, Johnnie May Waldon; grandchildren, Shardanae Banks of New Orleans, LA, Dominique Denmond of Houston, TX, DeAndre Denmond of New York, NY, Destini Denmond of New York, NY, Asia Denmond of Haslet, TX, Marcus Denmond, Jr. of Haslet, TX; great grandchild, Emanual Wynn of Houston, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Preceded in death by her father Leo Denmond, Sr.; mother, Lillian Johnson Denmond; siblings, Leo Denmond, Jr. and Sylvester Denmond, Sr.; great grandchild, Isaiah Zhu.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Pastor Paul Weeks will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Floyd Richard, Charles Junior Richard, Ricky Benton, Emmanuel Richa, Anthony Zhu, Ricky Benton, Jr. Burial will follow the service at Old Cypress Cemetery in Rosepine, LA.
