Emma E. Bohr, 97, of Tower City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Heritage Mill Personal Care Home in Tower City.
Born on November 11, 1928, in Sheridan, Emma was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Neihenke Mehalko. A 1947 graduate of Tower City High School, she worked for many years as a seamstress in local garment factories. She was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Reinerton, where her quiet faith was reflected in the care and creativity she brought to everyday life.
Emma found joy in needlework, cross stitch, and sewing, and she cherished her extensive collection of hummingbird decorations that filled her home with color and life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean H. Bohr, in 1992; her daughter, Elizabeth Bohr Graby, in 1987; her brothers, Paul and John Mehalko; and her sisters, Ruth French, Helen Del’Oreice, and Anna Mattis.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Bohr and his wife Nancy of Enola; three grandchildren, Mark Bohr, Amber Graby, and Shawn Graby; three great-grandchildren, Alex, Tyler, and Kingsley; her sister, Mary Snyder of Georgia; and many nieces and nephews who will remember her gentle spirit and the love she showed her family.
