April 8, 1990— March 13, 2026
Alexandria, LA
Emily Suzanne Oates, 35, of Alexandria, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Rapides Regional Medical Center.
Born on April 8, 1990, in Pollock, Louisiana, to Timothy Oates and Susan Ferguson Oates, Emily was a one-of-a-kind soul whose vibrant personality touched everyone she met. She never met a stranger. Above all, she lived for her children, who were her whole world, her greatest purpose, and the center of every dream she held. She loved them fiercely and unconditionally, and that love will live on through them forever.
Emily possessed a beauty that shone both inside and out. She had a quirky spirit, a curious mind, and a personality that could never be duplicated. With the heart of an explorer, she found joy in rock hunting, tending to her plants, and wandering through the world in her own distinctive way. She noticed beauty in the little things others often overlooked, always asking questions and exploring ideas with a free-spirited curiosity that defined her.
She is survived by her life partner, Kyle McGee; her children, Gavin and Euri McCarty, and Ellie and Kendal McGee; her parents, Susan and Tim Oates of Pollock; her grandmother, Lepha Oates of Ennis, Texas; her sisters, Brandy Oates of Pineville, Kacie Scott (Mitchel) of Georgetown, and Brittany Oates of Ennis, Texas; and many other loving family members, including Kent and Dana McGee, Mikayla McGee Crawford (Rylee), seven nephews, two nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charles Lee Ferguson and Frances Sue Ferguson, and her paternal grandfather, Billy Steven Oates.
