Emily Marie Emerick, born October 17, 2004, passed away in the late morning of March 9th. A happy and loving soul, Emily brightened the lives of everyone who knew her. She embraced life with an outgoing spirit, finding joy in simple outings to the farmer’s market, crafting stores, amusement parks, bingo nights, and quiet meals with family at restaurants. Her optimism and quirky humor had a way of lifting those around her, leaving smiles in her wake.
Emily cherished time spent with her tight-knit group of friends playing Dungeons & Dragons, a game her father had taught her. She was an avid reader who could never have enough books, with particular affection for the Harry Potter series and A Court of Thorns and Roses. Her creative spirit shone through in drawing, crafting, jewelry making, and painting. She also delighted in collecting plush toys and blankets, and found enjoyment in Star Wars, Marvel, Supernatural, and Criminal Minds.
Above all, Emily possessed a rare gift for uplifting others, making them laugh and feel seen. She faced years of serious health challenges, including kidney failure, with quiet strength, a beautiful smile, and unwavering optimism. She passed peacefully in her sleep.
Emily is survived by her mother, Leslie, her father, Jim, and her stepfather, Lucas Alaniz. She is also survived by her five siblings—Max Emerick, Armand Alaniz, Griffin Rittenhouse, Adora Alaniz, and stepbrother Alex Alaniz—whom she loved deeply, and her sweet kitten, Mia Rose.
