Emelyn West

Emelyn Cothren West, age 77, passed away on March 14, 2026, at Southeast Georgia Health System following a short illness. Born on October 25, 1948, in Appling County, she was the daughter of the late Purdy Cothren and Carrie Mobley Cothren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie West; her son, Michael West; her brothers, Howard, Lamon, Linton, Leland, and Eston Cothren; and her sisters, Bonnie Taylor, Juanita Taylor, and Eloise Cothren.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Starnes and her husband Terry of Brunswick; her brother, James Cothren and his wife Willene of Brunswick; her sisters, Marie Boatright and her husband Ronnie of Alma, and Freda Cooper of Alma; as well as six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Emelyn lived a life deeply rooted in family, leaving behind a legacy of love and connection that will continue through those she cherished most. Her memory will remain a source of comfort and strength for her family and all who knew her.
