Emelene Yarboro Miller, age 91, of Elkin, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026. Mrs. Miller was born June 1, 1934, in Surry County to Kapp and Gertha Rose Yarboro.
Mrs. Miller was a longtime and devoted member of Grassy Creek United Methodist Church, where she was active in the church, choir and Grassy Creek quilters and was honored as Lay Person of the Year. She loved her community deeply and was known for her outgoing, loving spirit that touched everyone she met.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Miller; five brothers, James Yarboro, Tommy Yarboro, Felix Yarboro, Wendell Yarboro, and Benny Yarboro; and three sisters, Martha Yarboro, Margaret Darnell and Special sister Ruth Yarboro.
Survivors include her three daughters, Cynthia Caudle and husband Roger, Donna Kay Collins and husband Steve, and Gail Miller and wife Jan Smith Miller; her sister, Gemmie Key; grandchildren, Donald Collins and wife Delinah, Alissa Gardner and husband Daniel, and Drew Caudle and wife Becky; and great grandchildren, Ali Collins, Elliott Gardner, Finley Caudle, Preston Gardner, and Miller Caudle. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 17, in the Elkin Funeral Service Chapel, with Rev. Jim Pritchard, Rev. Melinda Penry, and Rev. Alvin Hays officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Grassy Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery.
