Elvira Lopez Sanchez
October 17, 1933— March 9, 2026
Kyle, TX
Elvira Lopez Sanchez passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Born on October 17, 1933, in Quanah, Texas, she grew up in Del Rio, Texas, where she attended school and laid the foundation for a life marked by dedication, humility, and deep devotion to family.
The oldest of seven children born to Gabriel and Gorgonia Lopez, Elvira left school in the eighth grade to help support her family. She spent much of her life working as a migrant worker, demonstrating remarkable determination and resilience. She later married and was blessed with four children, whom she placed above all else. She instilled in them the values of education, good manners, and respect for others.
Elvira found her greatest joy in caring for her family. She loved cooking for them, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and ensuring everyone felt loved and cherished. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren affectionately called her “Nana,” a name she held dear. In her free time, she enjoyed embroidery, being outdoors, and tending to livestock. She was known for her humble spirit and her fondness for a warm cup of coffee with just a little coffee and a lot of cream.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gabriel and Gorgonia Lopez; her sisters, Clemencia Canales and Rosa Tovar; and her brothers, Julio Lopez and Leonardo “Nayo” Lopez. Elvira is lovingly survived by her children, Santiago Sanchez Jr. and Doralia Sanchez, Samuel Sanchez and Josie Sanchez, Angelica “Angie” Constancio and her husband Eziquel Constancio, and Velma Estrada, along with 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and joy. She will be remembered for her strength, humility, and unwavering love for her family.
