Elvira DeMasi
July 1, 1938— March 9, 2026
Staten Island, NY
Elvira DeMasi of Staten Island, New York, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at the age of 87.
Born in Mondragone, Italy, Elvira was raised in a loving family alongside her eight siblings by her devoted parents, Nicola and Rosa Pacifico. From an early age she embraced the values of faith, family, and generosity that would guide her throughout her life. At 16 she immigrated to America with her cousin Rosetta, bringing with her a youthful and hardworking spirit. She built a life as a skilled seamstress and later found joy in square dancing with her husband, Dominick, and their many friends. An adventurous soul, she traveled extensively with Dominick and her sister Dorothy, visiting sacred sites including Medjugorje, Lourdes, and the Holy Land.
Elvira was cherished for her warm heart, deep Catholic faith, and exceptional Italian cooking that drew family and friends together around her table. Her home was a place of welcome, filled with kindness, love, and shared meals. She stood as the heart of her family, offering wisdom and strength that shaped generations and brought the love of Jesus into the lives of all who knew her.
She shared 58 years of marriage with her devoted husband, Dominick, who remained by her side with constant care until the end. Elvira is lovingly remembered by her husband, Dominick; her children, Christopher, Donna, and Stephen; her grandchildren, Isabelle, Michael, Alexandra, Gianna, Johnny, Daniel, and Christian; her great-grandson, Jaxson; and many extended family members and dear friends. Her legacy of faith and love will endure in the hearts of all whose lives she touched.
