He was born to the late Ben & Mona (Moss) Jones on July 19, 1930, in Moss Clay County, Tennessee. Elvin married the late Wilma D. Moore on December 27, 1953, in Toledo, Ohio.Surviving Elvin are his children; Denis (Debbie) Jones of Toledo, Daniel (Rachel) Jones of Risingsun, Dorene (Doug) Schmitz of Northwood, grandchildren; Scott (Danielle) Jones, Chad (Emily) Jones, Destany Jones, Daniell Jones, Dynara Jones, Devin Jones, Dawson Jones, Troy (Lydia) Schmitz, Brooke Schmitz; 11 great-grandchildren, sister Ina Coe Jones of Lafayette, TN. and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Wilma D. Jones; son, Destery Jones; sisters, Ella Jones, Eona Whitehead, Hazel Pedigo; and brother, Eugene Jones.Elvin worked for Local 134 Toledo Commercial Roofing where he retired in the late 1980's. He was a member of the Local 134 Toledo Union for 70+ years.Friends will be received from 4-8 PM on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio, where a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 1 PM with Pastor Jeff Forsyth officiating. Burial will be held at Scott-Trinity Cemetery in Scott Township. Immediately following a bereavement luncheon will be held at the Risingsun Community Park Building.
