Elva L. Gummo, age 92, of Punta Gorda, Florida, formerly of Hubbard, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026. Born on June 24, 1933, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Delbert Isaac and Tencie Mae Dye Mitchell.
Elva worked for Lawson Milk Company from 1974 to 1981 and later became the owner and operator of One Stop Superette in Hubbard, where she served her community from 1983 until 2001. She married Clyde A. Gummo on January 27, 1951; he preceded her in death on April 10, 1994.
She is survived by her son, Ronald L. Gummo of Punta Gorda, Florida. In addition to her husband and parents, Elva was preceded in death by her brothers Carroll, Jay, and Ira Mitchell, and her sisters Norma Mitchell, Edna Mitchell, and Violet Johnson.
Elva will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. She was laid to rest at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
