Elsie Peterson ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by McCrery & Harra Funeral Home and Crematory - Concord Pike on Mar. 9, 2026.Elsie Peterson, age 91 of Wilmington, DE went to be in the hands of her Lord on March 9, 2026.She was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and was the daughter of the late Mary McCormack.In 1955, Elsie married the love of her life, Rev. Lyle E. Peterson and was by his side where he ministered in many congregations. Along with all her "Minister's Wife" duties she raised 3 children.She enjoyed baking, she was especially known for her fruit cake. Elsie also enjoyed arranging flowers for Sunday Services, usually from Lyle's flower garden. She was always prepared to host a gathering even on a moment's notice. Elsie was a connoisseur of tea; black, hot and had to be poured in a China cup.Her husband of 63 1/2 years, Rev. Lyle E. Peterson died in 2018. Elsie is survived by her three children, Mary Nelson (George), Brenda Boston (Randy) and Myrick Peterson; two brothers, William Hunter {Shirley) and Samuel Hunter (Margaret); eight grandchildren, Shawn Nelson (Abby), Christopher Nesbitt (Yuko), Joanna Boston, Bethany Boston, Timothy Boston (Kami), Caleb Boston (Carolyn), Kimberly King (Ken), and Randy Peterson (Samatha) as well as 11 great-grandchildren. Elsie was also preceded in death by brother, Robert Hunter and her daughter-in-law Robin Peterson.A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 12 from 10 to 11am with a funeral service to follow at 11am, at Berean Baptist Church, 2 Holcomb Ln, New Castle, DE 19720.
