(Prisco) Matejkovic (98) passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026 with love and comfort at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.Born in Ashtabula on May 4, 1927, the daughter of Sam and Mary (DeChurch) Prisco. A lifelong resident of Ashtabula, she was born and raised in the "Swede Town" area, living over eighty years on East Sixth Street. Elsie graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1945. She was a cheerleader at Columbus Jr. High and a majorette at Ashtabula High. Her enjoyment of music and dancing started at the Palace Ballroom in downtown Ashtabula in her teenage years. She was a past President of the Sons of Italy Anita Garibaldi Ladies Lodge and was one the organizers of their first Bocce league. A lifelong member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel / Our Lady of Peace Parish. On July 6, 1957 she married Frank "Butter" Matejkovic. She was a homemaker who lovingly made her house a home. Elsie enjoyed dancing, baking, and staying in touch with her family cousins and many dear friends. Always pleasant, with a smile on her face, her quick wit and great sense of humor brought a smile to whomever she was around.She is survived by her daughter Connie and son-in-law Donnie Johnston. She will be deeply missed.She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Evelyn, husband Frank, son Dennis and daughter Barbara in infancy.A special "Thank You" to Elsie's hospice care team who provided kind, caring compassion during the past months. Words cannot express how much they were appreciated. In Keeping with Elsie's wishes, no services will be held. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery in Ashtabula.
