Elsbeth "Becky" Mattison

Elsbeth "Becky" Mattison

Saratoga Springs, NY

Elsbeth "Becky" Mattison, born September 9, 1925, in Göppingen, Germany, passed away peacefully with family by her side on February 21, 2026, at the age of 100. The daughter of Wilhelm and Katherine (Luther) Froschle, she met her future husband, Donald J. Mattison, while he served as an enlisted soldier in the United States Army during World War II. They married in 1954 and settled in Manchester, Vermont, where they purchased and operated a guest home. Becky became a U.S. citizen in August 1959.

In 1962, Becky and Donald moved to Cambridge, New York, where they raised their family. Together they owned and operated the Old Cambridge Fairgrounds and stables. Both later worked at Mary McClellan Hospital before developing and running the mobile home sales and park known as Scenic Mountain Estates. In 1981, they sold the business and made their home in Sebastian, Florida.

Becky embraced retirement with enthusiasm, enjoying swimming, golf, and frequent travels that included regular visits to her homeland in Germany and Caribbean cruises. She cherished summers at the family camp on Lake St. Catherine in Vermont, surrounded by loved ones. She had a special affection for children, and her face would light up whenever they entered the room. A woman of strong Christian faith, she was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Sebastian and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Saratoga Springs.

Becky was predeceased by her husband, Donald. She is survived by her three sons, Gerald Mattison (Debra) of Saratoga Springs, Steven Mattison of Saratoga Springs, and David Mattison (Merede) of Golden, Colorado; four grandchildren, Tristine Bong (Joel), Jonathan Mattison (Amanda), Daniel Mattison, and Emily Mattison; and five great-grandchildren, Matthew, McKenzie, and McKayleigh Bong, and Hallie and Faith Mattison.
