November 14, 1946— March 12, 2026
Pittsboro, IN
Mrs. Ellen Marie Wright, 79, of Pittsboro, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on March 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on November 14, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Walter L. Bushey and Patricia C. Smith. The following is an obituary written by her daughter.
Ellen graduated from Northwest High School in 1965, where she was a proud majorette. In 1964, she met the love of her life, Kenneth W. Wright, at Westlake Beach Club, and they were united in marriage on November 3, 1967, sharing 58 beautiful years together.
A gifted homemaker, Ellen found great joy in caring for those she loved and cooking. She enjoyed trying out new recipes and perfecting old favorites. She took great care of her flower beds and garden, lovingly tending to them through the seasons. She also enjoyed canning all her vegetables, including crafting her own homemade "Bloody Mary" juice.
Ellen loved all her family more than anything and taught us how love was supposed to feel. She instilled in us that you never left or hung up a phone call without an "I love you", even if you were angry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter L. Bushey and Patricia C. Smith; her daughter, Jeanne M. Wright-England; her sister, Lori A. Childress; and her brother, Gregory E. Bushey.
Ellen leaves behind her devoted husband, Kenneth W. Wright; her daughter, Jennifer (Bert) Dininger; her grandchildren, Alexandra (Steven) Hauk, Amelia DeLong (partner, Justin Johnson), Audrey DeLong, and Adeline DeLong; and her great-grandson, Finley J. Johnson. She is also survived by several nieces and many dear friends who will miss her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit.
In honor of Ellen’s life, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
In accordance with her wishes, no formal services will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home and Cremation Services. The family kindly asks that all who knew and loved Ellen keep them in their thoughts and prayers during this time, and remember her through the love she so freely gave.
