Ellen was born on November 27, 1943 in New York, New York, to Louis and Jeanette Gross. Her family moved to Plainfield, NJ when she was a young child. She attended school in Plainfield and graduated from Plainfield High School. Ellen went on to become the mother of 4 children. She had three children with Richard Dixon of Plainfield, NJ and one child with her second husband Thomas Michael of Dunellen. Ellen started her full-time career at Wegman's Supermarket at the age of 58 and worked until she was 80 years old. Ellen was a devoted mother whose hobbies included Early American antique hunting and collecting, cooking and travel. Ellen was an Anglophile who made at least dozens of trips to "Merry Old England" as she would call it. So much so, that she had her granddaughter Sydney tattoo the British flag on her wrist at the age of 78. Known for quick wit, love of life, and stock investing savvy, Ellen made an interesting coffee companion whether the topics were serious or lighthearted.Ellen is survived by her children: Dana Genovese and husband Peter, David Dixon and partner Nancy Hedeen, Louis Dixon and wife Stacy, and Adam Michael. Her grandchildren: Edward Martin and wife Chelsea, Torrie Martin, Abby Martin, Peter Genovese, and partner Erika Kwong, Trevor Genovese, Sydney Dixon, Amanda Dixon, Abbey Dixon, Rylie Dixon, and her great grandchild Trey Azara.
