Elkana Mwangi ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home - Great Bridge Chapel on Mar. 15, 2026.A Tribute to Our Beloved Elkana Geshohe MwangiWith heavy hearts yet deep gratitude to God for his life, we remember and celebrate our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Elkana Geshohe Mwangi. Elkana was born on April 20, 1972, in Nairobi, Kenya, to John Mwangi and Peris Wangui Mwangi, who preceded him in death. On March 9, 2026, at the age of 53, Elkana was called home to be with the Lord.Elkana spent part of his childhood in Nairobi before moving to Koru Village, where he was raised and began his education. From an early age, he showed determination and a strong desire to learn and grow. After completing his studies at Kericho High School, he worked hard to raise funds for further education. His dedication led him to Kenya Highlands Bible College in Kericho, where he earned a Diploma in Theology. In the year 2000, Elkana married the love of his life, Beth Njeri Geshohe, at Full Gospel Church of Kenya in Kericho. Their marriage was blessed with four wonderful children: Gerald, Matthew, Samwel, and Naomi. Elkana loved his family deeply and worked tirelessly to provide for them and guide them with wisdom and faith.Elkana began his career as a teacher at Milimani Academy in Kericho. In 2004, he moved to the United States in search of greater opportunities for his family. With perseverance and determination, he pursued a career in nursing. Through hard work and commitment, he completed his preliminary studies at Tidewater Community College and later earned an Associate Degree in Nursing in 2014 and a bachelor's degree in nursing in 2015 from Norfolk State University. Elkana served faithfully in several hospitals, and at the time of his passing, he was working as a dedicated nurse at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.Elkana was a devoted man of God. His faith was the foundation of his life. He was a committed member of the Full Gospel Church of Kenya and later became a faithful member of Bible World Apostolic Church after moving to the United States. He loved reading the Bible, spending time in prayer, and encouraging others in their walk with God.To us, Elkana was more than a husband, father, brother, and uncle. He was a pillar of strength, a source of wisdom, and a man of great kindness. He was generous, hardworking, patient, and full of humor. Many people sought his advice because of his thoughtful and calm spirit. In his quiet moments, he enjoyed taking walks, watching Asian dramas, and spending time in prayer. On the morning of March 9, 2026, while taking one of his regular walks, Elkana was involved in a tragic accident and went to be with the Lord. Though our hearts are deeply saddened, we take comfort in knowing that he lived a life of faith and purpose.Elkana leaves behind his loving wife, Beth; his children, Gerald, Matthew, Samwel, and Naomi; his siblings Anne Njeri Muriithi, Samuel Maina, and David Kinyua; and many beloved nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory.Elkana's love, faith, wisdom, and dedication to family will continue to live on in all of us. We thank God for the time we shared with him, and we will forever hold his memory in our hearts."I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die."- John 11:25-26The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown, Great Bridge Chapel on Monday, March 16, 2026 from 6 to 8 p.m. A service will be held at Bible World Church on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 11 a.m. with committal rites concluding at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
