Elizabeth "Betty" Travers

Elizabeth “Betty” Jean (Bransfield) Travers, 89, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn and Middleton, died peacefully on March 12, 2026, following a brief illness. Born in Conway, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Geneva (Cormier) Bransfield. Raised in Conway and Lynn, Betty graduated from St. Mary’s Girls High School. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel O. Travers, with whom she shared more than 55 years of marriage before his passing in 2012.

For most of her life, Betty was a devoted homemaker who lovingly raised her family. She also played a meaningful role in the family business, Sullivan’s Curtain Shop. In 2018, she moved to Brooksby Village, where she embraced community life, formed many cherished friendships, and remained active in the years that followed.

Betty is survived by her five children, David and his wife Carol of Lynn, Dennis and his wife Mary Ann of Hopkinton, New Hampshire, Brian and his wife Kerry of Bristol, Rhode Island, Edith Amenta and her husband Michael of Lynn, and Elizabeth Earp and her husband Jonathan of Osprey, Florida; fourteen cherished grandchildren, DJ, Amber, Sarah, Vinny, Cailin, Daniel, Cassi, Andrew, Nick, Natalie, Lindsay, Travis, Jared, and Morgan; and fifteen beloved great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister Anne Bontaites and her husband George of Marblehead, her sister-in-law Mary Lou Bransfield Jenkins of Connecticut, many nieces and nephews, and was a loving part of the Kennedy and Costello families. She was predeceased by her brother James Bransfield, her sister Elaine Whyte and her husband Richard, and her husband’s twin brother, Rev. David O. Travers, S.J.
