Oxford, CT

Elizabeth “Betty” Sibiski Johnson, age 86, of Oxford, Connecticut, passed away on March 10, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Bridgeport to the late Joseph and Genevieve DeMarco Sibiski, Betty lived for many years in Stratford before settling in Oxford. She began her career as a nurse at Bridgeport Hospital and later worked at Harvey Hubbell, where she met her husband Bill, the love of her life. She continued her professional life at Richardson Vicks and in customer service at Bigelow Tea, where she remained active in retirement, giving presentations on behalf of the company well into her eighties.

A woman of deep faith, Betty sang in the choir at St. James Church in Stratford and with the Connecticut Chamber Choir. She served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Thomas Church. Above all, family was the center of her world. She cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, finding endless joy in attending their sporting events, recitals, concerts, and celebrations. Known for her quick smile and warm heart, Betty welcomed everyone into her home and her life with genuine affection.

She is survived by her devoted husband Bill; her children Marybeth Petrella and husband Ken, Ellen Patrick and husband Roger, and Jim McQuillan and wife Michelle; and her stepdaughter Debbie Gasper and husband Alex. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Kenny Petrella, Kate (Christie) Petrella and their children Logan and Peyton, Sophie and Sarah Kritemeyer, Harrison and Mitchell McQuillan, and Matthew and Joseph Gasper. She is also survived by her brother Joseph and his wife Marguerite, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by two infant sons, James Vincent and James Joseph McQuillan.
