Elizabeth (Beth) L. (Lewis) Bowen passed away at home on March 11, 2026, after a long illness. Born in Boston in 1944, she was the daughter of Robert E. Lewis and Elizabeth D. (Mazzola) Lewis. The oldest of nine children, Beth grew up in Leominster, attended St. Leo’s Elementary School, and graduated from St. Bernard’s High School in Fitchburg. She earned a degree in economics from Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts. She and her husband, John A. Bowen, made their home in Westminster for more than fifty years.

Beth built a varied and accomplished career. She owned and operated B-Square Enterprizes, an advertising agency, for twenty years, working with local and regional businesses. She later became a financial advisor with American Express and Ameriprise. Earlier in her professional life, she worked as a corporate trainer for New England Telephone and Telegraph Company in Worcester and served as Girls’ Athletic Director at Windsor High School in Vermont, where she also coached field hockey, basketball, volleyball, and softball.

Deeply engaged in her community and the amusement industry, Beth and John were part of the ownership group of Whalom Park. She served on the Board of Directors of the New England Association of Amusement Parks, acting as Secretary/Treasurer from 1990 to 1995, and was inducted with John into the association’s Hall of Fame in 2014. She also chaired the Awards Committee of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions. In Westminster, she was a Library Trustee from 1974 to 1983, including time as chairman, and served on the Massachusetts Board of Library Trustees. She was president of the Westminster Historical Society on three occasions, chaired the local Council for Children, and sat on the Board of Overseers of Plimoth Plantation.

Beth was predeceased by her parents and her sister Christine Gagne. She is survived by her husband John, her daughters Heather Bowen of Fitchburg, Melanie Bowen (Josh Glazeroff) of Arlington, Virginia, and Allyson Bowen (Shawn Vincent) of New York, New York, and five grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Robert Lewis (Mary) of Gloucester, Massachusetts, MaryEllen Letarte (Richard) of Lunenburg, Massachusetts, Margaret Lewis of Kennebunk, Maine, John Lewis (Cathy) of Charlotte, North Carolina, James Lafond-Lewis (Cheryl) of Providence, Rhode Island, Thomas Lewis of Hampton, New Hampshire, Martha Lewis of Charleston, South Carolina, and fifteen nieces and nephews.
