March 6, 1933— March 11, 2026
Lancaster, PA
Elizabeth J. “Betty” Zahm of Lancaster passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in her 93rd year. She was the beloved wife of the late William H. “Bill” Zahm.
Born in Lancaster, Betty was the daughter of the late Ambrose Joseph and Esther M. Rohrer Saam. She graduated from J. P. McCaskey High School and retired from RCA in Lancaster after 30 years of service.
Betty cherished her time at the beach, spending many happy years in Rehoboth and Lewes, Delaware, with her husband Bill. She held her family close to her heart and was a passionate advocate for dogs, especially rescues. She found joy in playing cards, knitting, working puzzles, fishing, beach combing for shells, and losing herself in books or shows filled with mystery. She was a longtime member of the Riverdale Campers Association.
She is survived by her stepdaughter Janet (Hoyt) Roark, her grandson William “Bill” (Meghan Wilson) Roark, and three great-grandchildren, William “James” Roark, Anne Alice Roark, and Ryan Andrew Roark. She is also survived by her brother Joseph Saam and her sister Marion (John) Evans. She was preceded in death by her sister Doris and her brothers Edward, Robert, and Richard Saam.
