Elizabeth Doris Nichols

Elizabeth Doris Nichols, 93, of Durham, passed away March 14, 2026, at Pettigrew Rehabilitation. She was born on June 13, 1932, to the late Elus and Mina Daniels Nichols in Durham.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by her daughters, Peggy Lou Weston, Betsy Ann Dove and Gail Locklear; brothers, William Nichols, Connie Nichols, Freeman Nichols, and Louis Nichols; sister, Lyda Rose Fowler.

She is survived by sons, Burley “Joe” Dove of Knightdale, Johnny L. Dove of Hillsborough; daughters, Helen D. Althaus of Butner, Edith Tilley, and husband Johnny of Durham; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Nichols attend First Baptist Church in Creedmoor for many years. She loved God and her family dearly. She worked her whole life to support her family. She was a very humble, hard-working woman and made the best homemade biscuits around. She enjoyed puzzles, word puzzles and reading her Bible.
