Elizabeth “Bette” McDonald Ward, 93, of Burlington, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at her residence.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Bette was the daughter of the late John Angus McDonald and Edna Marie Boehm McDonald. She shared 65 years of marriage with her beloved husband, the late Donald P. Ward.

A woman of deep faith, Bette was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Community Church and later attended St. Paul’s Community Church, where she found great joy singing in the choirs. She also sang in community choirs, created beautiful quilts, delighted in watching birds and butterflies, and cherished bowling outings with her husband, Don. Above all, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Catherine “Cathie” W. Denney (Howard), Patty W. Roehrs (Tab), and Raymond E. Ward; grandchildren, Donny, Beth, Aaron, Jennifer, Chris, John, Carly, and Richard; fifteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her daughter, Donna W. Cornatzer, and Donna’s husband, Allen; and two sisters and a brother.
