Elizabeth Annetta Haney

1933 — 2026

Seymour, MO

Elizabeth Annetta Haney, age 92 of Seymour, Missouri, passed away on March 11, 2026, at Glenwood Rehabilitation and Health Center in Seymour with her family by her side.

Born on September 24, 1933, in Independence, Missouri, to Clarence and Wilma (Lewright) Kemmerer, Elizabeth graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City in 1951. She married Charles Haney on May 22, 1953, and they shared 60 loving years together. She began her career at age 15 as a cashier at Rothchild’s Clothing Store in downtown Kansas City, later becoming a bookkeeper while still in high school through the COE program. She took special pride in being the only employee trained on the store’s modern office equipment.

In 1962, Elizabeth and Charles moved to their farm east of Seymour near the old Pee Wee store. While she devoted herself to homemaking, she also served as bookkeeper for the family’s dairy and beef cattle operation, as well as for Charles’s businesses, including his work as a chain link fence contractor for Sears, White Top Gas Company, and their farm implement dealership, Haney Implement Company, which they owned for twenty years.

A longtime active member of First Baptist Church of Seymour, Elizabeth participated in WMU, served on the Bereavement Committee in the church kitchen, and volunteered for New Tribes Mission while supporting Choices Pregnancy Center in Marshfield. She found deep faith early in life, singing in the choir at sixteen when she accepted Jesus as her Savior, and reaffirmed that commitment publicly in her final year.

Elizabeth was happiest when surrounded by family, planning and preparing meals for holiday gatherings and special occasions that grew to include more grandchildren and great-grandchildren each year. She and Charles enjoyed many travels together, including trips to Hawaii, California, Florida, and a Caribbean cruise earned through his success as a Massey-Ferguson dealer. In retirement, they loved exploring Colorado in their fifth-wheel camper and spending time at Treasure Lake in Branson. She even persuaded Charles to take up square dancing for a season, where they found joy in the fellowship of other couples.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, her sons Gary and Dan, and her sister Marion Bauer.

Elizabeth is survived by her son Ken (Debby) of Marshfield, Missouri; daughters-in-law Tammy of Seymour and Cindy of Booneville, Arkansas; grandchildren Jeff, Jason, Matthew, Joshua, Elizabeth, and Andrew Haney; and great-grandchildren Brayden, Layla, Landon, Jailyn, Hudson, Haidyn, Weston, Finton, Chamberlain, Adelyn, Leona, Jonah, Clara Grace, and David Justice.
