Elizabeth Anne Moore passed away on March 10 at Emory Decatur Hospital (formerly DeKalb Medical Center). Lizanne was born on February 1, 1951, in Miami, Florida, raised in East Point Georgia, and graduated from Russell High School in 1968. She received a Bachelor's Degree from Georgia State University in the 70s and later returned to GSU to earn a Master's in Library Media. Her work life consisted of a number of different jobs, including several years at the Atlanta Campus of DeVry University as Assistant Registrar, followed by working in the DeKalb County Library system, from which she retired. Lizanne was an animal lover, an enthusiastic baker, and a skilled embroiderer. She also loved holidays, gardening, and reading. She was an active and beloved member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta and faithfully served her community volunteering on multiple committees. A devoted friend to a wide circle of friends, neighbors and family, she also found time for pet sitting, working on environmental and civic issues she cared deeply about, and relaxing at home with her precious cats, Sandy and Zen. Lizanne was known for her compassionate heart and generous spirit. She found great joy in providing support, comfort, and encouragement to others and her kindness extended to many charitable and philanthropic efforts, reflecting her lifelong desire to uplift those in need and make a difference. Through a lifetime of study and reflection, she lived with great purpose, and her life was a quiet testament to faith in action. Lizanne's memory will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
Lizanne is survived by her sister, Judy Carman, niece Michelle (Greg) Zivic, nephews Bill (Cindy) Carman and Brian (Heather) Carman, four great nieces: Claire (Joe) DeJunco, Caroline (Sebastian) Villalta, Kelsey Zivic, and Callie Carman, two great nephews: Cason Carman and Desmond Carman, three great great nieces and three great great nephews.She is predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Ann Moore, and brother-in-law, Bill Carman, Jr.The funeral service is scheduled at A.S. Turner funeral home in the chapel on Saturday 3/21 at 11 a.m.
