Elizabeth Anne Knapp

Elizabeth Anne Knapp, 73, of Parkersburg, passed away on March 14, 2026, at her mother’s residence surrounded by her family. Born on September 3, 1952, in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Anna Bee Kormendi of Parkersburg and the late Mike Kormendi.

A graduate of Jefferson Morgan High School in Pennsylvania, Elizabeth went on to attend Marshall University and graduated from West Virginia University in Morgantown. She dedicated forty years to teaching physical education, health, and health terminology at Van Devender Middle School and Parkersburg High School. She also taught the R.A.Z.E. program and remained deeply involved in her community. After retiring, she continued serving as a substitute teacher for the Wood County Board of Education.

She is survived by her husband, James Knapp; her son, Brian Mark Miller (Jill) of Mooresville, North Carolina; her brother, John Joseph Kormendi (Susan) of Jacksonville, Florida; and her grandson, Jackson Noah Miller. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Michael Kormendi.

Elizabeth remained surrounded by the love and support of her family and friends throughout her life.
