Elizabeth Ann Lange Obituary March 4, 2026 - Fiksdal Funeral Service

Elizabeth Ann Lange, age 87, passed away quietly into her Savior's arms on March 4, 2026 in Rochester, Minnesota surrounded by caring friends and nursing staff. She was born on September 20, 1938 in Webster, South Dakota, the only child of Martin G. Lange and Mabelle E. (Reich) Lange.Elizabeth Ann graduated from Webster High School in 1956, then attended Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa for one year. She graduated from Northern State Teachers College in 1960 in Aberdeen, South Dakota (now known as Northern State University) with a degree in Special Fields, followed by a Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Minnesota.She began her academic library career in 1961 at Iowa State University as a Cataloger and was promoted to Head of the Catalog Department in 1968. From 1972 to 1979 she was Head of the Catalog Division, University Libraries, at the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis) and from 1979 to 1989 was Assistant Director of Libraries for Technical Services at the University of South Carolina at Columbia. In 1989 she was Director of the Library at Winona State University, retiring in December 1983 as Dean of the Library.Following her retirement, Elizabeth Ann moved to Rochester, Minnesota to be close to her beloved Aunt Gertrude and Uncle Marvin Luckow. She was preceded in death by her parents. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery in Webster, South Dakota. No formal services are planned as per her request.
