Ooltewah, TN

Elizabeth “Liz” Aldridge, 83, of Ooltewah, passed away on March 12, 2026, at her home surrounded by family after a lengthy illness. Until the very end, Liz remained a woman of kindness, compassion, and deep devotion to those she loved. She created a home filled with laughter and warmth, leaving behind a legacy that her children and grandchildren will always cherish.

Born on November 2, 1942, in Charleston, South Carolina, Liz spoke fondly of her childhood days spent on the beach with friends. In 1956, her family moved to Decatur, Alabama, when her father transferred to Redstone Arsenal. She graduated from Decatur High School and began working at Worthington, where she met the love of her life, Don Aldridge. They married and shared 61 beautiful years together. The couple started their family in Alabama before moving to Chattanooga in 1973.

Liz was a loving wife and a nurturing mother to her daughter, Melani Aldridge McWhirter of Ooltewah, and her sons, Bill Aldridge of Ooltewah and Scott Aldridge of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was a proud grandmother to Garrett McWhirter, Brandon McWhirter, Megan Cowart, Blake Aldridge, Olivia Aldridge, and Cole Aldridge, and a great-grandmother to Holly McWhirter. Later in life, she and Don enjoyed traveling and remained active in the Shriners. She was a member of Sunnyside OES Chapter 359 and served as Worthy Grand Matron for the State of Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Don Aldridge.
