Elinor Nark, 96, of Mineral Springs Road in Cobleskill, New York, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at her home with her family by her side.
Born on August 14, 1929, in Trenton, New Jersey, she was the daughter of John L. Robson and Inez H. Hodgkins Robson and the middle child of seven. A graduate of Newton High School, Class of 1947, Elinor began her working life at Picatinny Arsenal. She married Robert L. Nark on September 6, 1953, in Succasunna, New Jersey. The couple lived briefly in New York before settling in Schoharie County, where she worked as a secretary for the Cobleskill School District. She later volunteered at Cobleskill Hospital and worked for Walmart. She also assisted her husband’s family with bookkeeping for Nark Brothers Trucking Co. and their farm.
Elinor had a special fondness for knitting. She formed a close group with friends who called themselves the Knitwitts, gathering regularly to knit, chat, and share laughter. Known for her warm smile and joyful spirit, she brought light to those around her.
Her husband, Robert L. Nark, predeceased her on September 9, 1999. She is survived by her son, Wayne (Kathy) Nark; daughters, Barbara Nark and Jean Race; brother, Harlan Robson; sister, Helen Mazzarella; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
