Eli Vires

Eli Vires, born December 22, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Richard and May (née Hall) Vires, passed away on March 11, 2026, at the age of 81.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Charmaine A. Vires (née Graton). Eli was the loving father of Patti Webb, Ami (John) Beyer, and Rae Bieber, and the cherished Papaw of Jessika, Sula, Emmanuel, and Sadie Beyer, and Nathan, Skylar, and Nolan Bieber. He was the dear brother of Betty (Barry) Turner, Mary (the late Frank) Fugate, Helen (William) Bowling, Dora (Harlan) Fugate, and Hurshell (Jane) Vires, and brother-in-law of Sharon Vires. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Eli was preceded in death by his son-in-law Jason Bieber and his siblings Ollie Vires, Jalia (Reed) Combs, and Callie (Lee) Bowman.

He lived by a quiet, steadfast philosophy: that being sophisticated is not the same as being superior, education is not the same as wisdom, stubbornness can have its place, and there is dignity in providing for those you love. He believed in fixing what was broken, understood that family ties are often complicated, and always ended his calls with the words “Love you.”
